SHAMAN: The Wounded Healer

An aural representation of the lucid dream state, 'The Wounded Healer' is a piece of contemporary music. It attempts to create an image of a spiritual journey in the mind of the listener. Using a mantric pattern created from a looped sample a chant and other atmospheric samples, a visual image of a tribal ceremony or celebration is created.

Mickey Hart suggests in his book 'Drumming at the Edge of Magic' that the drum head when struck releases a short sharp blast across a wide sonic spectrum that is a stymulus to the nervous system. When repeated, these signals breakdown the preset rhythms of our everyday lives, and therefore alter our perceptions. 'The Wounded Healer' sees the development of ideas first approached in the audio piece 'The Sage vs. The Rythym Devils'.
