"Rainbow Child, GROW UP!"

Written by Shelton & Mavrides, and presented in a modern context by Rainbow Child, this short animation was produced while experimenting with the techniques eventually used in the 'Diary..'.

The Artist looks for image sources to adopt for animation, 'base materials' to fill the empty frames, and using a pc scanner, GROW UP! involves written text and line-art appropriated from "The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers #11" comic. Thus the Shaman makes his contribution of a personal artifact, which is touched up by the the Artist's minimal colour pallette, and by delaying the exposure of the frames, is displayed in a way that takes advantage of the medium of file transfer protocols by which it is received, i.e. over the Internet or from a cd-rom.

The ideas of using any available capture device to capture representations of the artists condition, and of exploiting the potential hazards in using the internet as a display outlet, were developed further in the following animation, SKIN UP!
